Most of my friends will tell you that I have become a fitness junky and it shows. My thighs are leaner and my flat stomach is now what my friend Mialisa in Barbados describes as washboarding.
While I am ecstatic about my size 3 body, I have to deal with the constant, “you have lost your hips”, “you looked sexier before”, “Where is that big ass?”. Let me not give the impression that all comments have been negative as I have gotten a lot of great reviews. Truth be told, whether good or bad I really don’t care as it is all about what I am comfortable with……it is my body, I do what I want with it as long as it is healthy and you should feel the same as well. You cannot please everyone all the time, so why not just try and satisfy only One, YOU.
You may be able to take a vacation and get away from the kids, work or even that special someone, but you can never get away from yourself, you can never trade your body, so why not make it what you want it to be? What is hindering you? is it what your friends think? the comment your neighbour made? or is it that nosey co-worker? The real question is, whose body is it? If the answer you got was, your spouse or someone else, by all means, ask them how would they like to see you, however if the answer you got was you, you need to ask yourself, am I ok with what I see?
One key ingredient to success in life is setting personal goals and sticking to them. Regrettably many of us only apply this principle to our career and totally forget about our health. A personal healthy goal is equally important, and I repeat HEALTHY goal. An added value is that a healthy body and mind boost your professional lifestyle. If you decide to lose weight, you should stick to it despite what the critics may say. If after losing that weight you decide it is no longer the look you desire, then what is easier than putting on weight?
Simply put, your body is yours to do whatever you want with it as long as it makes you feel good and is healthy.
Mantra: I will commit to a healthier lifestyle.
